Camp Crame, Quezon City-The Philippine National Police (PNP) Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group (IMEG) accosted three police personnel for unauthorized use of cellular phones while on official duty. The incident, which was uncovered through regular cyber patrolling efforts, is part of IMEG’s intensified campaign to uphold professionalism, discipline, and integrity within the police ranks.
Earlier today, three PNP personnel with the rank of Patrolman, assigned to the Manila Police District, were caught during the routine red teaming operations conducted by IMEG operatives in strict compliance with the directive of the Chief PNP, PGEN ROMMEL FRANCISCO D MARBIL. Two of the said PNP personnel were caught browsing and using the Messenger Application while performing their duty in the Police Assistance Desks along Remedios, corner MH Del Pilar Street, Barangay 700, Malate, Manila, and along Pedro Gil Street, corner Paz, Ermita, Manila. Another PNP personnel was caught playing an online game while performing police visibility at Roxas Blvd, corner United Nations, Ermita, Manila.
Despite repeated warnings and internal reminders, several PNP members have continued to violate this policy. Hence, the said directive was reiterated to all IMEG operatives, emphasizing the need for consistent enforcement of discipline and professionalism, particularly against the unauthorized use of mobile devices while on active duty.
Citing the directive of the Chief PNP, PGEN ROMMEL FRANCISCO D MARBIL, PBGEN BONARD D BRITON, the Director, IMEG said that using personal mobile phones while on duty not only compromises the safety of the public and fellow officers, but also reflects poorly on the professionalism expected of a PNP member. “The public deserves our full attention and commitment”, he added.
The Chief PNP, reminds all PNP personnel that a marching order has been given to IMEG and it will continue its relentless monitoring to ensure all officers adhere to the highest standards of conduct on the streets and online. Violations of such policies will be met with appropriate administrative action.
“This incident serves as a firm warning to all PNP members: discipline begins with individual accountability, and no one is above the rules”, he added.###
