The Chief of the Philippine National Police, PGEN DIONARDO B CARLOS today announces the arrest of three members of the Palo MPS for Multiple Extortion, Robbery and Sexual Harrasment. According to the official, the three (3) personnel were arrested by members of the IMEG Visayas Field Unit office with the assistance of officers from the PRO8 under the leadership of PBGEN BERNARD M BANAC, RD PRO 8, COP Palo MPS, RHPU 8 and CIDG 8 on March 10 at 6:00 PM. Citing a report from IMEG director, Brigadier General Oliver A Enmodias, the PNP Chief said that the entrapment operation emanated from a formal complaint lodged to the VFU Team against the accused for Multiple Extortion, Robbery and Sexual Harassment. The three arrested individuals identified as PSMS Alex Garciab Asis, PSSG Raffy Mendoza Retosar and PCPL Jerwin Neopus Dacillo, were allegedly extorting money ranging from 1,000 to 3,000 regularly in almost four (4) months from one of the suspects they arrested for extortion on October 29, 2021. The suspects continued demanding money by way of bluffing or sending false information to the complainant. The victim also suffered sexual harassment upon detention. The suspect-turned victim, one Cherie Quinones of Tacloban City is already out on bail following her arrest during an entrapment operation in a Barangayanihan Medical Mission. The Chief PNP said that despite his constant warning, these corrupt policemen continue their illicit ways. “I assure the public that we continue our aggressive campaign to rid our ranks of this kind of police destroying our organization, “the official added. The official further directed the PNP IMEG through PBGEN OLIVER ENMODIAS to go after any police officer or men who continue to tarnish the image of the PNP and show no leniency. The suspects are now under the custody of the CIDG 8 in Port Area, Tacloban City for filing of criminal and administrative charges that will automatically lead to his expulsion from the police force. Recovered pieces of evidence from the suspect are the following:A. Six pieces of 1000 peso bill Php6, 000 (Marked Money)B. 460 pesos in different denominationC. Two Units of Glock 17 9mm pistol with serial numbers PNP22117 and PNP46179;D. Two pieces of magazines with 29 ammunition; andE. Four Units of cellular phones (OPPO colored black, INFINIX colored violet, VIVO 15colored black/red and Samsung keypad colored white). The PNP Chief also renewed his call on the public to report the presence of any police personnel involved in irregularities to their hotlines (Smart) 0998-9702286 or (Globe) 0995-7952569.
