The Chief of the Philippine National Police, PGEN RODOLFO S AZURIN, JR today announces the arrest of 3 active PNP members, all assigned at Paco Police Community Precinct, Police Station 5, Ermita, Manila for robbery-extortion on August 15, 2022 at about 10:45 PM inside Paco Police Community Precinct, Police Station 5, Ermita, Manila.
Shortly after he assumed his new post as Director of PNP Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group (IMEG), PBGEN WARREN F DE LEON with a commitment to further step up their campaign against “rogues in uniform” as ordered by PNP Chief to intensify the implementation of Internal Cleansing Program of the PNP, announced today that the joint elements of Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Action Team (IMEAT) of IMEG, Teams Southern and Manila of NCRFU-IMEG, and 35th SAC, 3rd SAB-SAF conducted an entrapment operation inside Paco Police Community Precinct, Police Station 5, Ermita, Manila that resulted to the arrest of three active PNP members.
PNP-IMEG Director identified the arrested suspects as PSSg Erwin Licuasen, 34 years old, PCpl Chimber Importa, 33 years old and Pat Leopoldo Tuason, 39 years old for the crime of Robbery (Extortion).
“We have arrested police rouges in uniform accused of robbery extortion in line with our continuing implementation of the C, PNP’s directive to go after rogues in uniform regardless of their rank and stature. We assure the public too that we will immediately and properly act on all complaints against erring police personnel,” PBGEN DE LEON said.
The operation stemmed from a complaint from Sampaloc Manila that his driver was apprehended for traffic violations (counter flow and driving without license) and impounded his tricycle on August 14, 2022. The suspects were demanding money in the amount of PhP2, 000.00 pesos in exchange for the release of his tricycle.
The said personnel were arrested after receiving marked money amounting to Php2,000.00 from the complainant. Recovered pieces of evidence during the operation were two pcs 1000.00-peso bill (dusted money), three pieces cellphone, Three short firearms, One piece blotter book, Six pieces of magazines with 92 ammunition and One unit of motorcycle with side car.
“I commend our operating troops for this significant accomplishment as part of our relentless efforts to cleanse the ranks of the PNP whether active or former members, regardless of amount without fear or favor” PBGEN DE LEON added.
Arrested suspects were brought to IMEG, Headquarters, Camp BGen Rafael T Crame, Quezon City for proper documentation prior to inquest proceedings before the Prosecutor’s Office.
