PBGEN WARREN F DE LEON, Director, Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group announces the arrest by virtue of Warrant of Arrest against PCpl Derick Tanduyan, 31 years old, male, currently assigned at Magsaysay Municipal Police Station, conducted by IMEG Mindanao Field Unit at around 1:00 AM on February 1, 2023 inside the Police Regional Office 11 (PRO 11), Camp Sgt. Quintin M Merecido, Davao City.

Director, IMEG said that Tanduyan was accused for the crime of Murder under Criminal Case No. 38(23) dated January 31, 2023, issued by Hon MARIVIC T DARAY, Presiding Judge, 11th Judicial Region, Regional Trial Court, Branch 18, Digos Ciy with no bail recommended.

“This warrant was in relation to the killing of Patrolman Hariz Jhun Adayo on May 2022, who was shot dead by a motorcycle riding suspect. As a result of the investigation conducted by the Special Investigation Task Group (SITG) Adayo, it was later identified that one of the perpetrators was PCpl Tanduyan as averred by several witnesses.” PBGEN DE LEON said.

PBGEN DE LEON further said that the arrested suspect is now under the custody of Magsaysay Municipal Police Station, Davao Del Sur for documentation prior to turnover to the issuing court.

“We are continuously conducting our internal cleansing efforts with a stronger emphasis on ensuring the standard of discipline and conduct is observed. This campaign has long been sought and just like what our Chief, PNP said, na hindi tayo magsasawa na bantayan ang hanay ng kapulisan.” PBGEN DE LEON added. ####
