“Diligence and persistence of the operatives of the Philippine National Police Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group (PNP-IMEG) paid off after the arrest of two retired erring cops identified as SPO2 Manuel R Laureta (Ret) and PO3 Dennis R Dia (Ret) thru Warrant of Arrest both for the crime of Estafa on April 26, 2023.” PBGEN WARREN F DE LEON, Director, PNP-IMEG said.

In a report submitted to PGEN BENJAMIN C ACORDA, JR, CPNP, on April 26, 2023 at about 2:30 PM, joint elements of Team Manila, NCRFU, IMEG (Lead Unit), together with RSOG, RID, NCRPO and Sta. Ana Police Station 6, MPD, served the Alias Warrant of Arrest against SPO2 Manuel R Laureta, (Retired PNP member) at Bldg. A, 404 Chromium Street, Sta Ana, Manila for the crime of Estafa under Art. 315 para 1(b) of the Revised Penal Code (RPC) with bail recommended amounting to PhP16,000.00. The operation stemmed from the Alias Warrant of Arrest issued by Hon. Edwin B Ramizo, Judge, Regional Trial Court, National Capital Judicial Region, Branch 114, Pasay City with Criminal Case Number: R-PSY-16-12039-CR dated January 31, 2017.

On the same date at about 5:35 PM, the same Team with Team 4A, LFU-IMEG, together with RSOG, RID, NCRPO, and Bacoor City Police Station, served the Warrant of Arrest for the crime of Estafa against PO3 Dennis R Dia, (Retired PNP member) at Bacoor City Hall, Bacoor, Cavite for Estafa under Art. 316 para 2 of the Revised Penal Code (RPC) with bail recommended amounting to PhP40,000.00. The operation stemmed from the Warrant of Arrest issued by Hon. Edwin B Ramizo, Judge, Regional Trial Court, National Capital Judicial Region, Branch 114, Pasay City with Criminal Case Number: R-PSY-13-08968-CR dated September 4, 2014.

“I commend our operatives in the PNP-IMEG for another successful extensive manhunt operation to uphold the rule of law and to bring wanted persons to the folds of justice and have them accountable for the crimes they committed.” PBGEN DE LEON said.

Said wanted persons were informed of their Constitutional Rights and the nature of their arrest and were subsequently brought to IMEG Headquarters for documentation prior to the return of the Warrant of Arrest to the courts of origin.

“We will continue our efforts to keep all PNP officers both active and retired be held accountable and responsible for their wrongdoings. All of us either active or retired have a role in achieving a trusted and credible police organization.” PBGEN DE LEON added. ###
