Under the leadership of the current Chief, PNP, PGEN BENJAMIN C ACORDA, JR, the PNP-IMEG has been contributing immensely towards the aim to cleanse the ranks of the PNP by conducting an intensified and sustained effort to eradicate rogue PNP personnel and proactively preempt other personnel from committing acts of graft and corruption and other crimes.
In a report submitted to the CPNP, on May 18, 2023 at about 8:00 AM, joint elements of Team 3, IMEG-Luzon Field Unit (Lead Unit), Counter Intelligence Division-IMEG, Regional Intelligence Unit 3, and Mabalacat Municipal Police Station, served the Warrant of Arrest inside Clark Airport, Mabalacat, Pampanga against Pat Edgar G Lazaga, Jr for Violation of Chapter III, Article 310 of the Revised Penal Code (Qualified Theft), and Four Counts of Violation of Section 32 of RA 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act) with bail recommended amounting to PhP40,000.00 for Qualified Theft and PhP100,000.00 for violation of RA 10591.
The operation stemmed from the Warrant of Arrest issued by Hon. Leo Cecilio Domingo Bautista, Presiding Judge, Regional Trial Court, Third Judicial Region, Branch 38, San Jose City, Nueva Ecija. The Warrants of Arrest emanated from the complainant for violation of RA 10591 wherein four firearms were turned in for safekeeping and entrusted to Pat Lazaga, Jr as Supply PNCO by the owners of the firearms under OPLAN “Katok.” However, on February 23, 2022, he allegedly carted away the aforesaid firearms.
The arrested person is now temporarily detained at Mabalacat City Police Station for documentation prior to turnover to the issuing court.
“This is one of my Focus Agenda, to cleanse the PNP. No Police should be involved in any wrongdoings and we will not tolerate them,” CPNP, PGEN ACORDA, JR said in his statement.
“Ang aming hanay ay bibigyang diin muli ang aming mahigpit na paalala na huwag ilagay ang sarili sa ano mang baluktot na gawain, kung sila man ang tataliwas sa kanilang sinumpaaang tungkulin, ang PNP-IMEG ay hindi titigil upang sila ay kalusin.” PBGEN DE LEON also stated.
