During the second State of the Nation Address (SONA) last Monday, His Excellency President FERDINAND ROMUALDEZ MARCOS, JR, said that he is determined to clean up the ranks of the PNP from those who are involved in illegal drugs.

With that statement, PGEN BENJAMIN C ACORDA, JR, CPNP tasked the Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group to be part of the built-in mechanisms within the organization designed to deal with erring personnel involved in all forms of criminal activities. At the same time, the CPNP said that all disciplinary measures against erring cops should start from the level of all commanders.

In consonance with the directives, on July 27, 2023 at about 4:02 AM, joint elements of Team 5, Luzon Field Unit-IMEG (Lead-Unit); SOU 5, PDEG (Co-Lead Unit); PIT Albay, RIU 5; PIU Albay PPO; RID, PRO 5; RPDEU 5; RMFB 5; and Oas MPS conducted an entrapment/bust-bust operation at Masaraga Lodge, Brgy. Calsada, Oas, Albay for violation of RA 9165 that resulted in the arrest of PSSg Gregg C Redoblado assigned at Oas MPS, Albay PPO, PRO 5, 37 years old, single, a resident of Brgy. Iraya Norte, Oas, Albay. The suspect was arrested after he sold illegal drugs (shabu) in exchange of PhP30,000.00.

As a backgrounder, the successful operation stemmed from the approved IMEG COPLAN “PULA” of Team 5, LFU-IMEG dated June 15, 2023 for the involvement of PSSg Redoblado in the proliferation/selling and use of illegal drugs in the Municipality of Oas, Albay. PSSg Redoblado was under surveillance/casing operation for more than two months prior to his arrest after he was revealed by Pat Joshua C Resentes (under IMEG COPLAN “JOSH”), active PNP personnel who was arrested by Team 5, LFU-IMEG on May 11, 2023 during the buy-bust operation for violation of RA 9165 at Brgy. San Rafael, Guinobatan, Albay. During the debriefing, Pat Resentes revealed that the suspect is engaged in illegal activities particularly selling of illegal drugs in the Municipality of Oas, Albay, thus, IMEG COPLAN “PULA” was launched.

” It’s an eye-opener to every officer. It’s high time to take our job seriously when it comes to dealing with drugs. Police officers should never get involved with illegal drugs as the consequences of their actions would be severe. It‘s a no-no to get involved with illegal drugs.” CPNP, PGEN ACORDA, JR said in his statement.

“Bilang pagtugon at pagsuporta sa 5-Focused Agenda ng ating CPNP, ipagpapatuloy natin ang paglilinis ng hanay ng kapulisan at hindi natin pababayaan na patuloy na sirain ng droga ang kahit na sino man lalot higit sila ay isang lingkod ng bayan.” PBGEN DE LEON also stated.
